This team supports Highland’s efforts to build relationships and work in partnership with local and international people and projects.  The SaWC manages a “micro-initiative fund,” providing grants of up to $500 to Highlanders who wish to serve their neighbours in simple or creative ways.  The SaWC also leads intergenerational service opportunities with the Food Bank (Advent/Christmas) and MCC (school kits and work days).  Additionally, the SaWC organizes the Battle of the Bands (and Cakes) fundraiser to sponsor Highland children and youth to go to summer camp.  An important role of the SaWC is to assist pastoral staff and the Elders in discerning Highland’s response to frequent invitations to partner with various groups locally, provincially, nationally, and globally.
