INDIGENOUS RELATIONS

Highland Community Church has been engaging in a journey towards greater knowledge, understanding, and reconciliation of and with our indigenous friends and neighbours over the last few years.  We have had a few learning events, the most recent of which was a reading of the 94 Calls to Action from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.  You can find a recording of the event and information about steps you can take below.

At the bottom of this page is a list of resources where further information can be found on Indigenous relations, being an ally, and Canada's history with Indigenous Peoples.

94 Calls to Action from the TRC

On October 26, 2021 Highland hosted a reading of the 94 Calls to Action from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

Participants and others who are interested are encouraged to adopt one of the Calls to Action and take actions over the coming months to learn about and advocate for the call. Some ideas for actions include prayer, reading, research, letters to the government, engaging with local First Nations organizations, sharing about the Call to Action with friends and family, and many more.

We invite you to watch the recording of the reading of the Calls to Action below and adopt one of the Calls to Action yourself.
