We believe that God invites each of us to join Jesus in bringing all things back into harmony with God. We believe that every Christian has a gift for service to God and others. It is our goal to assist each person to develop their gifts.
We especially believe that caring for our world and loving our neighbours can take place in diverse ways–from leading small groups and participating in community service organizations to sharing our faith by financially supporting worthwhile projects locally and internationally. We believe that people are drawn to God through other people whose lives are marked by forgiveness and the power of the Holy Spirit (worship), by wisdom and knowledge in facing life’s complexities (learning), by loving and trusting relationships (fellowship), and by sacrificial caring for one another (service). Outreach occurs as we extend the love of our Lord to others who need a helping hand, a listening ear, a reassuring word or an act of kindness.
We encourage people to serve according to their gifts and interests, through the guiding of the Holy Spirit at home, at work, and at school. In fact, our commitment to caring for our neighbours means that we keep our “in-hour programs” to a minimum so that people have the time and energy to serve “outside our walls.”
Highland’s meeting house is a hub of activity for our church and the local community. In addition to our church’s events and meetings, our building is currently host to a day care [www.kidsclubabbotsford.com] and two additional church congregations.
